Welcome to Digital Frontiers in American Literature. In this multidisciplinary course in the English Department at Southwestern University, we explore texts from early to contemporary American authors that engage with notions of the frontier. As we examine works created by authors from a variety of ethnic American backgrounds, we are attuned to histories of inequality that have accompanied U.S. expansionism. Students in the class populate this blog with short writing assignments analyzing course texts, putting these texts into conversation with selected primary sources, and reflecting on how digital tools and methods impact our engagement with course content.
